Frequently Asked Questions

What is a rubber base?

A rubber base is a flexible base gel designed to reinforce the natural nail while improving adhesion. Its thicker, self levelling texture helps smooth small irregularities and create a more even nail surface.

Who is rubber base suitable for?

Rubber base is ideal for clients with thin, flexible, weak or slightly uneven natural nails. It is also suitable for anyone looking for additional reinforcement beneath gel polish.

What is the difference between rubber base and classic base coat?

Our classic base coat creates a thin adhesive layer beneath gel polish. Rubber base has a thicker and more flexible consistency, allowing it to add structure, reinforce the natural nail and correct small surface imperfections.

Can rubber base be worn without gel polish?

Yes. Coloured rubber bases can be worn alone and finished with a top coat for a natural, minimalist manicure. Transparent rubber base can also be worn alone for a clean and glossy result.

Can I use rubber base beneath gel polish?

Yes. Apply rubber base as the foundation of the manicure, cure it, then apply the chosen Elegelli gel polish shade and finish with a top coat.

Does rubber base extend the nails?

Rubber base is mainly designed to reinforce the natural nail. It may be used for very small corrections or minimal extensions, but it is not intended for creating long extensions. Builder Gel is more suitable when additional structure or length is required.

How should I apply rubber base?

Prepare the natural nail carefully and apply Elegelli Prep Booster and Primer when required.

Apply a thin rubbing layer of rubber base and cure for 60 seconds under an LED lamp.

For additional reinforcement, apply a second controlled layer and create a small apex before curing again for 60 seconds.

Finish with gel polish or directly with an Elegelli top coat.
