Imminent Ban on TPO in Gels Across the EU

Starting September 1st, 2025, the European Union is enforcing a new and strict regulation for nail cosmetics. TPO (diphenyl(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl)phosphine oxide), a common photo initiator used in UV and LED gels, is officially banned throughout the EU.
This decision follows studies highlighting the potential reproductive toxicity of TPO. Unlike other ingredient restrictions that allow a transition period, the ban on TPO is immediate: products containing this ingredient can no longer be sold or used from that date onwards.
